Raised Access Floor Systems in Thailand

A raised access floor is a floor of removable panels laid on adjustable pedestals above the structural slab. The void underneath carries power, data and, in many computer rooms, cooling air. Asia Net Building Services Co., Ltd. (ANBS) has represented RHINO Access Floors in Thailand since 1997, and we supply, lay out and install raised access floors for offices, banks, server rooms, data centres and control rooms across the country.
Raised access floor, raised floor or access floor?
All three names describe the same system. "Raised" describes the lifted walking surface; "access" stresses that any panel can be lifted to reach the services below. Specifications in Thailand use all of these terms. Read the basics in our raised floor system overview or the access floor page.
What a raised access floor is made of
- Panels: square, removable panels with a choice of core materials and finishes.
- Adjustable pedestals: fixed to the slab and set to height, so the finished floor is level even over an uneven slab.
- Stringers: used where the floor needs a stiffer grid, typically in server rooms and data centres.
- Accessories: airflow panels, floor boxes, cable grommets, step nosings, ramps and panel lifters. See accessories.
Raised access floor for offices
In offices, a raised access floor hides power and data cabling and puts floor boxes wherever desks need them. When teams move, panels lift and cables move with them, with no new trunking or ceiling work. In existing buildings with limited height, the low build-up RhinoCross® system fits a shallow cable space; ANBS installed it throughout UOB Sathorn in Bangkok. More in raised floors for offices.
Raised access floor for server rooms and data centres
Computer rooms use the void for cable trays and power, and often deliver cooling air through airflow panels in front of the racks. Cement-filled steel panels such as RhinoROC® on a stringer grid with an anti-static finish are the usual choice. Where very open airflow is needed, RhinoAlutec® aluminium panels are an option. See raised floor for data centres in Thailand.
Control rooms, cleanrooms and outdoor areas
Control rooms keep dense console cabling reachable without long shutdowns. Cleanrooms and lecture halls also use raised access floors. Outdoors, iPed® pedestals lift pavers or decking on terraces and roof decks, as at Lhong 1919 on the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok.
Benefits of a raised access floor
- Layouts change without breaking the slab or running trunking across the floor.
- Any panel lifts out for maintenance.
- A level finished floor over an uneven slab.
- The void can supply cooling air in computer rooms.
- Panels can be lifted and reused when the space is refitted.
Choosing a raised access floor
Start with the room: what sits on the floor, what runs under it, the height available and the finish you need. Then compare quotations on the same specification. Our buyer's guide and raised floor comparison walk through each step. For projects in the capital, see raised floor installation in Bangkok.

Frequently asked questions
What is a raised access floor?
A raised access floor is a floor of removable panels on adjustable pedestals above the structural slab. The void underneath carries power, data and often cooling air, and any panel can be lifted to reach the services below.
Is a raised access floor suitable for offices?
Yes. It hides power and data cabling, puts floor boxes where desks need them and lets layouts change without ceiling or trunking work. In buildings with limited height, the low build-up RhinoCross system is an option.
Can a raised access floor be installed in an existing building?
Yes. Adjustable pedestals take up unevenness in the slab. The main checks are ceiling height, door thresholds and the ramps or steps at the edge of the floor. ANBS surveys the site and recommends a system.
